Q. Who is the highest placing field event athlete at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Thurston County History? 

A. Dwight Midles from Timberline High School placed 7th at the 1980 U.S.Olympic Track and Field Trials Hammer Throw with a toss of 216' 4". 

Q. Who is the highest placing runner in Thurston County history in the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials?                                             

A. Dave Gordon from Capital High School placed fourth in the U.S.Marathon Trials in 1984 and was the Olympic team alternate.

Q. Who had the highest place finish of any Thurston County woman in the U.S Olympic Track and Field Trials?                             

A. Patsy Walker-Pointer from Yelm High School finished fourth in the Heptathlon at the trials in 1984 and was the Olympic team alternate.
